At LDI, we value our people and the unique contributions each one brings to the team. LDI was founded on family values and you'll find that commitment to integrity, excellence, stability and teamwork at every hometown LDI location. We took a few minutes to sit down with LDI-Garden City Parts Manager, Chuy Garcia, and as him about his journey with LDI.

Name: Chuy

Job Title: Parts Manager at LDI-Garden City

How long have you been with LDI? I’ve been with LDI for five years. I started at the parts counter and then, when there was an opportunity, I was promoted to parts manager.

What drew you to LDI?

I started work in the oil field at 19. After that, I went to apply industrial technologies, knowing I wanted to move into agricultural equipment. I was looking at a couple of different dealership roles, and I decided that I wanted to be with a family-owned business like LDI rather than a big corporation. I knew LDI was family-owned, so if something needed to be done or someone to talk to, I could get an answer really quickly.

What do you like about your career, or what keeps you here at LDI?

It’s challenging. I like the challenge, sustainability, and being able to help people out. We have one of the best parts departments anywhere. Everybody takes a lot of pride in the store and in our jobs and gets along.

We also take the time to get to know our customers. They can walk in, and I wouldn’t be surprised about what they have to say. They don’t hold back, and we know them and their equipment. And it's not just about getting to know the big customers, it’s about getting to know all of them. Family farms have sons and nephews and other family members coming in for parts. And it’s a long-term relationship we build with each farm family because those young kids will eventually be farming and making those equipment decisions.

What’s one thing you would tell someone thinking about applying at LDI?

There’s phenomenal room for growth at LDI. There’s no limit to what you can do in your growth if you are willing to push yourself. You start at the bottom and can just keep going. If you were somewhere else, the next guy might be complacent. It’s a challenge to yourself to work here. If you want to push yourself here, then you can do that. If you want to excel, then it’s not just easy. You have to work for it and create that relationship with the customers.
